In either case, the book is set up to fail because they have no idea who or where the audience is. If you are writing for children, your reader — and the age bracket you are writing for — has a direct impact on the age of your protagonist and the length of the book — make sure you have got this right. Well, today there are essentially an infinite amount of outlets to feature your writing. You can now use filters, request books, review books. The author may tell you to keep certain words in mind as you read the text. Do you know how many people are eagerly anticipating your book?

This is what you should see, or something similar. You wrote without ever thinking: How the hell are people going to hear about this and why would they care if they do? I like to read YA, and occasionally middle grade. All these things gave me something to say. So when requesting, there are lots of ways to do it, because nothing in life is completely simple.
